Cannons Baseball Academy, Baseball University, and 5 Star Miami are excited to announce their merging and creation of CBU. This partnership will be under the name “CBU,” which is a combination name of Cannons and Baseball University. Our two respective organizations are extremely like-minded, like leveled, and more importantly share the same “Player First” philosophy. Nick James, owner/operator of Cannons Baseball Academy, and Addison Maruszak, owner/operator of Baseball University, both bring with them a wealth of experience and a track record for success in the areas of player development, player retention, and college recruitment.

This partnership has also opened up a very unique opportunity with one of the nation’s largest travel programs: 5-Star National. 5-Star National Director/Owner, Andy Buress, has granted us the opportunity to be “powered by 5-Star.” This structure allows us to create our own unique brand, while still having the support and backing of one of the nation’s most storied travel organizations. It is a partnership we are very excited about.

“CBU” also features the addition of 5-Star Miami, one of the newest and most successful organizations in the state of Florida. The Miami director, Bryan Morgado, who spearheaded the early success of 5-Star Miami, will continue to run the Miami branch of CBU and be the day-to-day contact in Dade County. Bryan is also the Assistant Baseball Coach at Miami Dade College, and brings with him an extensive network within the college recruiting industry.

This partnership will offer CBU players more exposure and access to college programs nationally, while still retaining the intimate, and developmentally minded philosophy that our program is known for. The “ CBU” brand will hit the ground running this winter, with their inaugural tryouts for 2022-2025 grads January 8-10 at Terry Park Stadium in Ft. Myers. The tryouts will be covered by Perfect Game TV and will feature some of the top talent in the country all vying for spots on the summer 2021 CBU rosters.
